Benedita Pinheiro
Benedita Pinheiro got her PhD in Animal and Science Technology in 2010 at Faculdade de Medicina Veterinária, Universidade de Lisboa. She is a researcher at the Applied Molecular Biosciences Unit & i4HB Associated Laboratory-NOVA School of Science and Technology (UCIBIO-FCT-NOVA). I’m a member of the UCIBIO Macromolecular Crystallography and Functional Glycobiology Labs. I have been responsible for applying structural and sequence bioinformatics for the identification, construct design and recombinant expression of carbohydrate-binding and carbohydrate-active proteins. I have specialized in the analysis of these proteins using glycan-microarrays, x-ray crystallography and several biophysical characterization techniques such as Isothermal titration calorimetry (ITC) and Microscale Thermophoresis (MST). I also give assistance in molecular biology in both groups. I have been the supervisor of three MSc student Thesis and was involved in the training of 4 PhD students, 3 MSc researchers and 7 undergraduate students.
