Filipa Trovão

Filipa Trovão recently got her PhD in Biochemistry (Specialty Structural Biochemistry) at NOVA FCT. She is a junior researcher at the Functional Glycobiology (GlycoLab) and Macromolecular Crystallography Groups (UCIBIO-NOVA). Her research interest is to study, at a molecular level, protein interactions that operate biological systems in human health, to understand the biological mechanisms. Towards this, her main scientific fields interests are Structural Biology and Glycobiology. Filipa has solid experience in protein expression and purification, X-ray Crystallography and state-of-the-art techniques to assess the specificity and affinity of protein-ligand interactions, such as glycan microarrays, MST and ITC. During her PhD, Filipa had the opportunity to work and receive training with one of the pioneer groups, the Glycosciences Lab (Imperial College London), in the glycan microarray technology, which gave her full experience from glycan probe preparation to data analysis.
