Teresa Sequeira Carlos

Teresa Sequeira Carlos coordinates the Research Support Office of the UCIBIO research unit and the Associate Laboratory i4HB at NOVA School of Science and Technology, since 2022. Prior to that, for nearly a decade, she led the Science Management and Communication activities of the UCIBIO and LAQV research units at NOVA FCT, since its setting up in 2014.

She has a degree in Chemical Engineering - Biotechnology (Instituto Superior Técnico) and a PhD in Molecular Virology & Immunology (University of St. Andrews - Scotland). After a post-doc at the University of St. Andrews, she was a post-doc at Instituto de Medicina Molecular - Lisbon. In 2014, she did a post-graduation in Science Communication at Faculdade de Ciências Sociais e Humanas - NOVA.

Teresa is responsible for institutional communication at UCIBIO and i4HB, promoting scientific discoveries, awards, and milestones through the institutional websites and social media channels. She also prepares press releases and liaises with media outlets to enhance public visibility of UCIBIO-i4HB’s research. To bridge the gap between science and society, she supports and coordinates outreach initiatives including school visits, open days, workshops, science fairs, and public events, in close collaboration with the researchers. Actively involved in administrative and academic management, she advises the Directive Board, coordinates the preparation of institutional reports, and contributes to competitive funding applications and internal governance through participation in multiple UCIBIO working groups.
